나는 사형수라는 선고를 받았다.
그리고 지상에서 보낼 수 있는 최후의 5분이 주어졌다.
28년을 살아오면서
5분이 그토록 긴 시간이라는 것을
깨닫지 못하고 살아왔던 것이 신기했다.
5분을 어떻게 쓸까?
옆에 앉아있는 같은 형편인 사형수에게
한 마디씩 작별인사하는 데 2분
오늘까지 살아왔던 생활을 돌아보며 정리하는데 2분
나머지 1분은 나를 낳아준 땅을...
자연을 둘러보는데 쓰기로 작정하였다.
고여오는 눈물을 삼키며 작별인사를 하고
두고온 가족들 생각에 벌써 2분이 지나버렸다.
자신에 대하여 돌이켜보려는 순간,
＇3분 후면 내 인생도 여기서 끝이구나＇
라는 생각이 들어 눈앞이 캄캄했다.
지난 28년이란 세월을 아무렇게나 낭비했던 것에
지독하게 후회가 되기 시작했다.
다시 한 번 살 수 있다면
순간 순간을 열심히 살 수 있을텐데..!!
낭비해 왔던 28년의 구석구석이 후회스럽던 그 순간,
나는 이제 죽었구나 싶던 그 순간
기적적으로 풀려난 그는
사형수로써 느꼈던 시간의 소중함을 한 평생 잊지 않았습니다.
그는 쉴새없이 작품활동을 하였고,
＇까라마조프의 형제들＇, ＇죄와벌＇ 등
수많은 작품을 발표해
톨스토이에 비교되는 문호로 남았습니다.
바로 시베리아 형장에서
이슬로 사라질뻔한 위기에서 풀려나
위대한 작품을 썼던 "도스토예프스키" 입니다.
