"우주, 알려진 것보다 10% 빠르게 팽창 중"

우주가 과학자들의 추정 속도보다 10% 더 빠른 속도로 팽창하고 있다는 것을 보여주는 관측 결과가 나왔습니다.
인디펜던트 등 외신들은 미국항공우주국 NASA와 유럽우주국 등을 비롯한 공동연구진이 NASA의 허블 우주망원경으로 19개 은하에서 수천 개의 별을 관측해 이 같은 결과를 얻었다고 보도했습니다.
지금까지 우주는 138억 년 전 우주 대폭발을 통해 탄생했고 우주를 채우고 있는 암흑에너지에 의해 점차 빠르게 팽창하는 가속팽창을 하는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
하지만 이번 연구를 통해 우주가 알려진 것보다 10% 빠르게 팽창해 암흑에너지 외에 다른 힘에 의해 영향을 받고 있을 가능성이 제시됐습니다.
또 우주가 생각보다 빠르게 팽창하고 있다는 것을 통해 우주의 나이가 138억 년 보다 어릴 수 있다는 것을 추정해 볼 수 있습니다.
