그 존재를 알게 되고는 무척이나 놀라는 것 말고는 달리 반응할 도리가 없을 때가 있다. 철학자 전병훈(1857~1927)의 존재가 그러하다.
서우(曙宇·온누리의 새벽빛) 전병훈은 평안도에서 태어나 50세이던 1907년 중국으로 망명했다. 그는 도교의 내단학(內丹學), 유교, 불교, 서양철학을 망라하고 융합하여 '정신철학통편'(1920년) 등의 저작을 펴내면서 정신철학이라는 체계를 세운다.
1992년 베이징대에 입학해 전병훈을 '발견'한 군산대 김성한(철학과) 교수는 1247쪽짜리 저서 우주의 정오에서 전병훈 철학을 되살렸다. 이 책에는 전병훈 선생의 '단군 천부경 주해'도 실렸다.
